Alumni
Why should I give?
Gifts from alumni help to strengthen academic programs, build and maintain state-of-the-art campus facilities, attract and retain top faculty members, and provide scholarships for students.
Will my $10 donation really make a difference?
Yes! Alumni participation is an important factor in the national rankings of universities, making it even more important to give annually so that the value of your degree rises every year. Whether it’s $10 or $10,000, your gift not only impacts George Mason University and its students; it’s also an investment in your degree!
Okay, so my donation does make a difference. But why should I give each year?
Annual gifts are used each year to make Mason the best it can be. We start at $0 every July 1, and we depend on raising the same amount (or more!) each year in order to continue providing a quality education to Mason students. If we don't raise the money for immediate use, programs can suffer. For example, a $50 gift enables the purchase of supplies for an art class, and $1,500 buys a new computer for the Center for History and New Media. If these funds aren't raised every year, the university and the students don't get all the resources they need.
What if I want to give more than $10? Are there any kind of donor recognition societies for alumni?
Yes! Mason has a variety of donor recognition societies, two of which are exclusively for alumni: the GOLD Circle and the Proud Patriot Society.
